Terms

Last updated July 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of Aside. By downloading, installing, or using Aside, you agree to them.

Purchase and payment

Aside is sold as a one-time purchase through Polar, our merchant of record. Polar handles checkout, payment, applicable taxes, receipts, refunds, and its own purchase terms. The price and currency shown at checkout are the amount that applies to your order.

Free trial

You may evaluate the complete app for 14 days without a card or account. Your 14 days start when Aside saves the first text you type. When the trial ends, editing pauses, but you can continue to read, copy, and export your pages. Purchasing and activating a license restores editing without moving or converting your content.

Your license

Your purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Aside on the number of Macs allowed by your license key. You may not resell, share, sublicense, reverse engineer, or redistribute Aside or your license key, except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Your content

You keep all rights to the text you create in Aside. Aside stores that content as Markdown files in the folder you choose on your Mac. You are responsible for the folder, any synchronization service you choose, any backups you need, and for ensuring that your use of the app and your content comply with the law.

Updates and compatibility

Updates may add, change, or remove features and may require a supported version of macOS. We may stop supporting older versions of macOS. Your installed copy will not be remotely disabled solely because a newer version is available.

Support

For help with Aside, email aside@hardflip.studio. We aim to help, but do not promise a particular response or resolution time.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Polar under the terms presented at checkout and any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Warranty and liability

Aside is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or a legal warranty where doing so would be unlawful.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future versions or purchases. The date above identifies the current version. Changes do not remove rights already granted for a purchase unless required by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you also keep any mandatory protections and right to bring a claim available under the law of your country of residence.
