Start a new page with the + button, even when your current page is empty.
Images reload automatically when their files return. Missing, inaccessible, damaged, or slow-loading files show helpful messages, with a manual retry available from the image menu.
Build 9
Keep a screenshot, reference image, or visual idea alongside your writing. Paste or drop it into a note, then open it at full size in Quick Look. Your images stay in ordinary files beside your Markdown.
Keep your notes in view with a panel of live previews. Drag pages into your own order and move the panel to suit your workspace. Aside remembers your layout.
Move between your five most recent pages with Control-Tab, or jump directly with ⌘1–⌘9. The switcher follows what you’ve been reading, making it easy to pick up an earlier thought.
Mark tasks as to do, in progress, done, or cancelled. Click to move a task forward, and use Tab and Shift-Tab to organize nested lists. Everything stays readable as plain Markdown.

Write reference links, email links, nested bold and italic text, indented code, underlined headings, nested quotes, and ordered lists using 1).
Open an existing Aside folder, import your current pages into a new one, or start fresh. Keep your library anywhere, including a synced folder or inside your vault.

Fenced code blocks now highlight syntax for common programming languages.
Aside now handles changes from other apps or Macs without silently overwriting your notes.
Build 6
Select text, paste a URL, and Aside turns the selection into a Markdown link automatically.
Click a Markdown task marker to complete or reopen it while the page remains plain-text Markdown.
Hold Command while the editor is open to see the actions available now and their current shortcuts.
